The Eclipse Crochet Blanket

The Eclipse Crochet Blanket is made with Caron Cinnamon Swirl Cakes a self striping yarn that comes in so many beautiful color options!

The Yarn

For the sample crochet blanket, I used Caron Cinnamon Swirl Cakes in the color Oyster. This yarn comes in beautiful color combinations. However, there are so many possibilities with yarn choices for this pattern. Lion Brand Mandala Ombre , Lion Brand Ferris Wheel, and if you wanted to create your own stripes Crochet.com Brava and Lion Brand Pound of Love are great options. Any yarn that meets gauge will work!

Notes

• The ch 1 throught this pattern does not count as a st.
• If you are not using a self striping yarn and want to alternate colors use color A for rows 1-3, 6-7 and color B for rows 4-5

gauge

6 sts x 3 rows = 2″ x 2″ in cdc

Spike Stitches

short spike stitch (s-spkst): yo, insert your hook one row below, pull up a loop, (keep it loose) yo, pull through all loops

long spike stitch (l-spkst): yo, insert your hook two rows below, pull up a loop (keep it loose), yo, pull through all loops

pattern

• See chart below for beginning ch
• Row 1: hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc across, ch 1, turn
• Row 2-3: hdc across, ch 1 turn
• Row 4: hdc first 3 sts, *s-spkst, l-spkst, s-spkst, hdc 3* rep to end of row, ending with 3 hdc, ch 1 turn
• Row 5: hdc across, ch1 turn
• Row 6: hdc 6, *s-spkst, l-spkst, s-spkst, hdc 3* rep until last 6 sts, hdc last 6 sts, ch1, turn
• Row 7: hdc across, ch1 turn
• Rep rows 4-7 until desired length, do not ch1, turn when finished.
