The inspiration
This crochet blanket was inspired by Shenandoah National Park. We LOVE to go camping and hiking as a family, living in Virginia for a few years gave us the opportunity to explore some really beautiful places. Shenandoah is one of our favorites. The colors and scenery are stunning. Since we moved from Virginia to South Carolina I wanted to bring a little piece of that scenery into our home and a figured a crochet blanket was a perfect way to do that!
Edit: Color Made Easy yarn has been discontinued. Some yarns you could use as substitutes are Basic Stitch Thick & Quick or Lion Brand Hue + Me, and Brava Bulky. If you have used any other yarn please leave the name in the comments so others can find it as well. Thanks!
Sizing
I made this crochet blanket a bit on the smaller side. It measures 40″ by 48″, I didn’t want it to feel too heavy but its still cozy enough to use while you’re lounging on the couch or even wrap around you while sitting around a campfire. You could easily customize it to make it a little longer by adding some extra rows.

Yarn
I used Lion Brand Color Made Easy for this pattern. This is a Bulky (5) yarn which makes this blanket work up pretty quickly. There’s also lots of colors to chose from! (This Yarn has been discontinued. See above for other recommendations)

Jessica says
Is the skip stitch chain 1 repeated?
ElenaandKamila says
Hi Jessica, throughout the Pattern you ch1, sc in the next st and that is repeated. Hope that helps!
Mimi says
Hello. This is a beautiful blanket.
Do you finish off the rows at the end of a color change or are you carrying it?
Thank you!
ElenaandKamila says
Hi! I don’t carry the yarn I just finish off the row at the end of each color change
Mimi says
Thank you!
Julie McHugh says
Why did mine end up being about 56″ wide instead of 40″? I did 167 stitches across. I love the yarn, colors and pattern, but I’m running out of yarn and you can’t get Kombucha anywhere!! Can’t figure out what I did wrong?
ElenaandKamila says
Hi Julie, does your gauge match the pattern gauge?
Linda says
Nothing better than this good old Moss Stitch !! It always looks so detailed no matter what size yarn you use ! Great choice of colors for this throw !!
